Haulin' Sol is a small scale flat-bed truck carrying cargo patterned after LeWitt's Wall Drawing 1152. LeWitt created a series of large-scale wall drawings that have been described as bold, geometric structures that appear deceivingly simple. The drawings, painted directly on the wall, are intended to be temporal and are re-created by following highly detailed instructions. The wall drawings are then painted over at the end of each exhibition. The ephemeral quality of LeWitt's wall drawings and the concept that they are to be re-made and ultimately their physical presence erased has inspired Thomé, who has eloquently equated LeWitt's practice to today's urgency regarding recycling and re-use.
